Sludge treatment systems

Since 2009, Factor UTB has delivered six activated sludge treatment systems to wineries owned and operated by Treasury Wine Estates across Australia and New Zealand. At a number of other Treasury facilities, Factor UTB has provided specialist advice and ongoing support services where new infrastructure was not warranted, instead implementing targeted modifications to existing systems or minor upgrade works executed by local contractors under Factor UTB’s guidance.

In 2013, Factor UTB’s expertise was formally recognised when it was awarded Engineering Excellence in its category at the Engineers Australia (SA) annual awards for the design, construction, and delivery of a wastewater treatment system at Treasury’s Matua Winery in the famous

Marlborough region of New Zealand. The project also received the Malcolm Kinnaird Award, the highest honour of the night, recognising it as the most outstanding engineering project delivered that year by a South Australian firm. The $6M project achieved this recognition while competing against significantly larger undertakings, including several exceeding $100M in value and SA Water’s landmark desalination project with a budget in excess of $1B. The awards highlighted Factor UTB’s ability to deliver technically
advanced, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable infrastructure to international standard.
